Tuesday 19 June 2018
After a lot of hard work and organising, we have finally moved on board Offbeat.
Although there is still work to do on Offbeat and she is still not ready to go, Mark and I set a date for moving out of the house and agreed to stick to that date, come hell or high water.
With excitement and a bit of trepidation, we moved on board Offbeat on Tuesday 19 June 2018. The move hasn't been too arduous as we have been able to move on at our own pace. We've moved most of our personal belongings on board, but still have a lot of stuff in the house and garage. We are in a fortunate position in that we can collect it as and when we're ready for the next batch.
It's been a real challenge for me, having to downsize from 5 wardrobes to 10 coathangers. For those of you who know me, you know how much I love my clothes and shoes. There have been some challenging conversations between me and Mark over the last few weeks about how many clothes and shoes I can take. He was very generous and said that I could have 6 of the 10 coathangers available. Thank goodness for spacesaving hangers, 6 turned into 36! Likewise he was very kind and bought me 4 shoe boxes for my shoe allowance. Never in a million years did he think that I'd get 11 pairs of shoes in them!
It is still very early days, but I think I'm going to enjoy life aboard Offbeat. It's very liberating and I certainly feel in control of my own destiny. We don't have a TV and broadband is pretty hit and miss so at the moment our lives are not filled with the trials and tribulations of the media world.
We've only been living on board a couple of days, but I've found that the people here are very friendly and have welcomed us with open arms and have already made us feel part of the 'live aboard' community.
Now, where's that pontoon party!
