Sunny Sail to Santa Pola

Wednesday 1st May 2019

San Pedro to Santa Pola

Following a wonderful night's sleep, we spent a leisurely morning in San Pedro marina before heading off to San Pedro, which was about 25 miles further up the coast.

As is usual for us, we planned to leave at midday, which turned into 13:15 by the time all the checks were done and we were ready to leave.  We weren't too bothered though as it was only a 5 hour trip.

It was a pretty uneventful journey.  The sun was shining, the sea was being kind and we had the wind on our nose, so we had the engine on. A couple of hours into the journey we started to loose speed, so we raised the foresail and gained a bit more speed.

We arrived at Santa Pola bay at around 17:30, just in time to meet with all the fishing boats racing into port.  It's hilarious sometimes, like something from Wacky Races.

We entered the bay at 18:30 and were directed to our berth.  As we turned the engine off, we were greeted with the sound of two Flamenco singers competing at nearby bars. Turns out it was Fiesta Time!
